Indian Navy Day 4th December 2019

Indian Navy Day is celebrated on 4th December every year. Navy Day is observed to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy.4th December is celebrated as the navy day because on that in 1971 during operation Trident Indian Navy sank four Pakistani Vessels. On Navy Day those killed in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 are also remembered.

During Navy Day Navy week is celebrated. In Navy week ships are open for visitors and school children. Various events take place during this Navy week including open sea swimming competition, a performance by Naval Symphonic Orchestra take Place.

The Indian Navy is a naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces. It plays an important role in securing the marine borders of our country. Indian Navy includes 150 ships and submarines with 67,000 personnel.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosale of the Maratha emperor is considered as the “father of the Indian Navy”.

History Of Navy Day:-

In 1944 The Royal Indian Navy Celebrated Navy day the first time in October month.During world war 2 navy day was celebrated on the 1st December.But now Navy day is celebrated to commemorate the attack on the Karachi harbor during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971.No Indian sailors were killed in this attack. 

Celebration Of the Navy Day:-

On Navy Day, the warships and aircraft of the Indian Navy are open for all visitors and children.The military photo Exhibition is also performed on this Day.Blood Donation Camp is also held on this Day.Evey year Navy Day is celebrated with Different Theme.

Navy Day 2019 Theme:-

The theme of this year is “Indian Navy Silent, strong and swift“.
