From Ahmedabad to London by road through bike


City Bikers Prakash Patel(age of 48 years old) and Hiren Patel(age of 59 years old) to start on April 24 and reach London in July; say age is just a number and what matters most in life is living it to the fullest


Prakash Patel and Hiren Patel both are not an experienced Bikers but Prakash Patel is an experienced biker with cross- country expeditions of over 1.5 lakh km under his belt, Hiren Patel is a relative novice biker with 25,000 km treks to his name.

Hiren Patel biking just a year ago to prepare for the difficult 22000 km read journey to London, spanning 19 countries over 90 days.

He met Prakash last year after learning that the latter was planning a road trip to London on his 411 cc bike and expressed a desire to join him.

A surprised Prakash advised Hiren to first start biking and go through the slug before he would even think of allowing the 59 years old to join him.


Preparation is key

Prakash planned the trip over two years, as it takes time to take care of visas and making lodging-boarding bookings. Also, fitness is of paramount importance. It is also necessary to check out rules and regulations of different countries.

For example, in China, a person over the age of 60 is not allowed to do adventure biking.”Hiren Patel would be the oldest Indian to ride in China at 59 plus age,” said Prakash Patel.

THE ROUTE

The journey was started from Ahmedabad and stay in India for the first 10 days taking halts at Kota, Kanpur, Patna, Siliguri, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal. They will then enter Myanmar to continue towards China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Holland, and Belgium.

The final leg of their journey will be from Brussels in Belgium to Calais in France from where they will take a ferry to reach the UK.
