Dust Storm hit Delhi, 20 states alert

In New Delhi Dust storm, with a wind speed of 70 kilometers per hour, hit the national capital and neighboring Gurgaon just before midnight on Monday. The Duststorm was followed by a squall, bringing down the temperature after a hot day, the weatherman said.
Several parts of north India, including Delhi, could witness thunderstorm and squall today, the met office said. As a precaution, some schools in Delhi and NCR region have declared a holiday. The Delhi Traffic Police urged people to take precautions while commuting and the Delhi Metro said it was on alert for heavy rain.
Search and rescue team are on standby. The dust storm has also affected air services in Delhi. Six arriving flights and one departure flight have been delayed.
The high-velocity wind swept through Delhi around 11.15 PM, an official at the Safdarjung observatory said. In Tripura, an elderly woman was killed and over 1,000 houses were damaged following a severe storm, officials from the state emergency operation center said.
