Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami. Dussehra is the Major festival of Hindu. It is observed on the tenth day of the Navratri. Dussehra falls in the Georgian month of September and October. This year Dussehra is falling on the 25 of October.

Meaning Of Vijayadashami:- Vijayadashami Consist of Two words Vijaya means Victory and Dashami means Tenth. The name itself suggests Victory over the devil on the Tenth day of the festival. 

Importance of Dussehra

According to Ramayan On this day, Ravan kidnapped Sita’s wife of ram.Ram request Ravan to release her but Ravan refused the request this leads to war between ram and Ravan. Ravan received a boon from Lord Bramha he could not be killed by God, No one can kill Ravan. He has ten heads.
Day by Day the pester of Ravan increased. So Lord Vishnu incarnates as Ram.Ram killed Ravan ends the Devil raj. Finally big victory over the Devil so this Day is celebrated as Vijayadashami.
According to Mahabharat on this day battle start between Arjun and the entire kuru Army. A battle between Kaurav and Pandavas. Arjun alone defeated the entire kuru army it was called Arjun’s day. So this day is celebrated as the Dusshera.

In Northern India Dussehra is celebrated in honor of ram.Ram Lila and drama is performed on the ground. Artist gives a performance on the stage.
In Southern, India Dussehra has celebrated in a variety of ways. The celebration starts with Durga puja and lighting up the temple.
