SURAT: The crime branch brought Anil Yadav, accused of rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Godadara locality, to the city on Monday a week after the incident.
Yadav had escaped a few hours after committing the crime. He was nabbed from near his native village in Buxar district in Bihar on Friday.
Yadav was brought to Surat by train and police will produce him in the court to seek his further custody for investigation. He currently doing painting labor job and formerly a textile embroidery unit worker. He escaped the city road and later went to the train to reach Bihar.
Meanwhile, the crime branch team also reached his native village Lohandi in Buxar. However, they could not find him at his home following which the police team started looking for him at other locations.
Yadav was later nabbed from Maniya village under Dhansoi police station limits on Friday. “Our team received excellent support from the Bihar Police and I was in direct touch with top police officials there. The accused has been brought to the city and further investigation will be done now,” said, Satish Sharma, the city police commissioner.
Earlier, the rape of a 14-month-old girl in Sabarkantha on September 28 allegedly by a worker from Bihar. The situation in the city changed after the involvement of rape and migration worker, however, there was no untimely attack in the city.
