Asifa Rape and Murder case Trails Begin Today Against 8 Accused


The Kathua Rape and murder case trials begin today in Jammu-Kashmir against 8 accused. The 8 accused allegedly held eight-year-old girl asfia in a small village temple in the state’s Kathua district for a week in January 2018 and sexually assaulted before murdering her.
The Kathua rape case trails begin the day after protests were staged in a different part of the country by citizens outraged by the heinous crime and other incidents of rape in unnao and Surat. Among the other places, protests were held at Delhi’s Parliament street and also gather at carter road Bandra area in Mumbai. The kathua rape case victim’s father comes at supreme court today and seeking the transfer of this trial to Chandigarh from Kathua.
The accused in Kathua rape case including one juvenile and four police officers and a retired government official. Against juvenile separate charge, sheet filed. The juvenile and other accused will be facing separate trials. While seven of the accused tried in session court. The chief judicial magistrate holds a separate trial for a juvenile.
After the Jammu bar association and kathua bar received a rap on the knuckles by the supreme court on April 13, Kathua trial excepted to be conducted smoothly.
