Seven policemen killed after Naxals blow up a police vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Sunday. The attack took place when Union home minister Rajanath Singh’s is Schedule to arrive in the state.
Naxals Carried out landmine blast around 12 noon when Arm force and District Force was patrolling the cholanar kirandul road to security to trucks which carrying construction material for road works. The intensity of the blast was so strong enough to toss the police vehicle in the roadside.
Five policemen died on the spot while two where rushed to the National Mineral Development Corporation’s Hospital. One of them died during treatment at the hospital and another died in Raipur.
A killed policeman from District Force was identified as Head Constable Ramkumar Yadav, Shalik Ram Sinha, Tikeshwar Dhruv. And from Arm force Vikram Yadav and Rajesh Kumar Singh, Ravinath Patel was killed in the attack. Constable Arjun Rajbhar died during treatment in Raipur Naxals looted six automatic weapons of the deceased personnel.
Police sources believe that the attack was in retaliation to the encounters in Gadchiroli and Bijapur where Maoists suffered major casualties.
Chief minister Raman Singh said that it is cowardly and expose the rebels anti-people and anti-development mindset. This proves that Naxalites do not want villagers and tribal people of this district to have access to even basic facilities such as roads. Incidents like these cannot dampen the courage and determination of our police force and We are committed to providing all-weather transportation facility by developing a network of roads in the entire Bastar division, including Dantewada,” the chief minister said.
